Each year on Windmill Island the Tulip Time festival is in full swing the first two weekends in May. Enjoy millions of tulips, an old Dutch windmill, a Dutch barrel organ playing music, a mini carousel (kids only), shops replicating ones in The Netherlands, and a beautiful conservatory. Stay near Holland to experience the ultimate tulip time frenzy in Michigan.
First, Holland Michigan is along the wine trail and there seemed to be a winery at every exit. Secondly, the craft brewery scene is unique with some on sustainable farms. Lastly, the scenery and views are amazing. We wrote about each place in the order we experienced them.

The CC2 Ranch in Fennville was the ultimate place to stay for a clean and cozy stay. Their hobby farm is home to chickens, ducks, peafowls, and friendly kitties. They will even let you in to the coop to retrieve eggs for breakfast in the morning. With permission they also allowed us to bring the dogs making this a no brainer.

Root Beer Barrel
This giant Root Beer Barrel is in the neighboring town of Saugatuck. Support saving the barrel with bringing cash since that is the only form of payment at the moment.
They serve food and root beer floats. However, we were full from good old Hungry Howie’s, and purchased growlers. The growlers are quite expensive. However, the cheap refills are noteworthy.

Virtue Cider has piggies, bunnies, chickens, hiking trails, and private green houses to drink their delicious cider.
Reserve your private green house ahead of time for 50 dollars. It includes 1.5 hours of time in the green house, a server, and one complimentary drink per person. Therefore, if you have a group of 6 people and all order 10 dollar drinks it more than pays for itself.
