We have been traveling to Breckenridge every year for over 10 years consecutively. Therefore, we have hiked many of the popular and unpopular trails. Each of them have something unique and wonderful to boast about.
Blue Lakes Trail
This out and back trail is great especially in the warmer months. It is about one mile out and back with panoramic views of all sorts of scenery. The mountain views, a couple rivers, truly BLUE lakes, and mini waterfalls makes it one of the top Breckenridge hikes to beautiful destinations .

Breckenridge Hikes to Beautiful Destinations: Mount Royal
As shown in the map below it was almost 5 miles with 1,765 elevation gain. Therefore, we would consider rating this trek as hard. However, we did see people with their young kids. Our pup Nala had no problem getting up the mountain, but needed assistance (Damion to carry her) back down.
Mount Royal was very worth the intense climb. At the top you are above the tree line and many people stop premature thinking they have summitted. You will know when you reach the top if you have views from every angle with strong winds to cool you down.

Peaks Trail #45
After a fresh coat of snow, Peaks Trail was peaceful. This Trailhead was up the mountain on Ski Hill Road. There is a parking lot on the left just past peak 8.
We chose to hike about half of the trail however, it does go all the way to Frisco if you do the entire 15.3 miles out and back. With minimal elevation gain it is only considered moderate likely because of the length of the trail.
Winter Hiking Gear for Breckenridge Hikes to Beautiful Destinations
Snowflake Trail was conveniently located close to our Airbnb. One gloomy morning we decide that this easy hike was just what we needed. We took off exploring, not knowing exactly where we would end up. When we realized Beaver Run Resort was close we headed towards it.
Beaver Run Resort is where we got married in 2015 so we snapped some pictures and took a different route back to our Airbnb mostly on sidewalks along quite roads.
Breckenridge Hikes to Beautiful Destinations: Rainbow Lake to Miners Creek Trail
Rainbow Lake has an excellent parking lot at the trailhead. This is essential because it is an easy trail for all ages and it is very highly trafficked because of it.
Rainbow lake loop is a quick 1.5 mile trail. However, it does connect with Miners Creek trail which we recommend taking to get in more miles with less people around.

Boreas Pass to Bakers Tank Trail
Grab your 4 wheel drive vehicle and drive Boreas Pass Road to Bakers Tank Trailhead. There is quite a bit of parking, but can be crowded on a weekend day and hard to get a spot.
We completed this easy loop in 6 miles, but others said it was closer to 5 miles long. First, you will wind through a lush green forest. Second, see the bright old water tank. Last but not least, take Boreas Pass road back down to where you parked. Warning: watch carefully for cars on the windy road especially because the shoulder seems to disappear in spots.
Fun Fact: Boreas Pass is a 20 mile scenic road that lead to the Continental divide. It goes from pavement to gravel quickly. Therefore, a 4 wheel drive vehicle is important. We have seen too many cars struggle doing this drive.

Breckenridge Hikes to Beautiful Destinations: Mohawk Lakes Trail
Mohawk Lakes are gorgeous bodies of water high on the mountains in Breckenridge.
We parked at the Spruce Creek Trailhead and made our way up this difficult out and back trail. It was steep in many areas along the 6 mile round trip. However, there are cool things to stop and catch your breath at along the way.
Peak 8 Trail from Beaver Run
Immediately out the back door of Beaver Run Resort there is a road and many foot trails to take in the Summer months. Hike miles up the mountain or get great views from just a mile up like we did.

Black Powder Pass Trail
Black Powder Pass is nestled between Boreas Mountain and Bald Mountain. This trailhead starts high up the mountain off the scenic Boreas pass road. We hiked this 3ish out and back trail to stretch our legs before continuing on our scenic drive. It is relatively flat for Colorado with about a 700 foot elevation gain.
Pack Like a Pro
Take Swann Mountain Road up to Sapphire Point in Keystone. We believe this is a must see for everyone. It is a quick .6 mile leisurely loop stroll of outstanding views.
We have walked this loop many times. It will never get old looking over Lake Dillon no matter what the weather.
