Tampa Itinerary

Tampa is a city along Florida’s gulf coast. It has beach towns to visit near by, and scenery everywhere you look. We suggest a car rental to take in everything Tampa has to offer. Here is a list of free things to do around the Tampa area.

Tampa State University

Ybor City

Take a walk down 7th Avenue, the main street of Ybor. This is home of cigar shops, a movie theater, and history around every corner. There are Spanish, Italian, and Cuban Restaurants. The Colombia Restaurant has taken up a whole block since 1905. The Ybor Bakery is a building from 1923, and is now the Ybor City State Museum.

Harbor Island

Harbor island is an island off of downtown Tampa. They have a few Restaurants including Jackson’s and American Social. Both overlook the water. Walk off dinner and check out the boats along the boardwalk.

St Petersburg

This is a highly populated beach town on the Gulf coast. This is 45 minutes from downtown Tampa. This town is known for its art and theater scene. If you want a day to enjoy the beach Upham Beach Park is a perfect spot. It gets busy so arrive early to get parking. Take 699/Gulf Blvd for a scenic route to Clearwater.

Clearwater beach

Clearwater beach has a 3 mile stretch of white sand on a barrier island. This is a half hour from downtown Tampa. There are many resorts and restaurants along the beach. If you get hungry we recommend Frenchy’s or Shepard’s. Both of these restaurants are right on the water. Pier 60 has shopping, entertainment and fishing.

Soho

This is a trendy residential neighborhood with shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Hillsborough Bay is to the east of Bayshore Blvd, and has views of Downtown Tampa.

Davis Island

If you like checking out real estate this is the island to drive around. There are mansions and beautiful homes galore. Davis island has views of Downtown Tampa. As seen in the picture above you will see stretches of sand with boats and yachts.
